OSC Takes Action Against Crypto Trading Platforms Kucoin and Bybit

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) has taken action against two cryptocurrency buying and selling systems. Kucoin is completely banned from taking part in Ontario’s capital markets. Bybit has promised to take steps to conform with regulations and sign up with the OSC.

OSC Sanctions 2 Crypto Trading Platforms

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) introduced Wednesday the outcome of enforcement movements against two overseas cryptocurrency trading platforms running in its jurisdiction.

The first is Bybit, a crypto buying and selling platform operated by using Bybit Fintech Ltd., included inside the British Virgin Islands. The different is Kucoin, operated by Mek Global Ltd., integrated in the Republic of Seychelles, and Phoenixfin Pte. Ltd., incorporated in Singapore.

“Bybit and Kucoin each perform unregistered crypto asset trading structures and allowed Ontario buyers to exchange securities without a prospectus or any exemption from the prospectus necessities,” the Canadian regulator defined.

Regarding Kucoin, the assertion states:

The OSC successfully received orders permanently banning Kucoin from participating in Ontario’s capital markets and requiring Kucoin to pay an administrative penalty of CAD $2,000,000.

Kucoin should also pay a further CAD $96,550.35 ($74,497) closer to the fees of the OSC’s research.

As for Bybit, the regulator settled with the exchange. The OSC defined that, not like Kucoin, Bybit replied to its enforcement motion, maintained an open talk, furnished requested information, and committed to carrying out registration discussions.
